what is an Integrated thematic Unit?
An Integrated Thematic Unit (or also known as ITU), requires students to critically think and experience curriculum that can be connected through various content areas. Through an ITU, students can make connections of how a specific or single concept is applicable towards various subjects such as Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Arts, World Languages, Technology, and other areas that foster their learning and personal growth. An ITU is put together by those teachers in their content areas through collaboration and research. The curriculum can be several days to weeks as needed to teach and implement what teachers want their students to learn and experience.
